Whoever finds a wife finds a good thing

Today’s phrase is the biblical way to praise marriage as a way of life for a man. Let’s check the phrase word-for-word. ‘Ma•tza’ is the verb ‘found’ for masculine, ‘ee•sha’ is either ‘wife’ or ‘woman’, once again the word ‘ma•tza’, and at the end, the word ‘tov’ which means ‘good’.

The biblical source of this idiom is in Proverbs:

‘Whoever finds a wife finds a good thing, and obtains favor from the Lord’.

Not only that marriage is praised here but also we learn that the man who marries a woman finds grace in God’s eyes. This is quite consistent with God’s saying in Genesis as He completes His creation:

‘And the Lord God said, It is not good that the man should be alone; I will make him a help to match him’.
